Established in January 1981, China Energy Research Society （CERS）is a national, academic and non-profit social organization voluntarily established by enterprises, institutions, social organizations and people working in energy science and technology areas. CERS was approved for registration by the Ministry of Civil Affairs (the administration authority of societies) and is under the guidance, supervision and administration of China Association for Science and Technology. At present, there are more than 600 company members, more than 50,000 individual members, under the 10 working committees, 43 professional committees and 5 branches, 8 offices and 1 magazine.

Energy Innovation Award:

In 2017, the Energy Innovation Award (National Science and Technology Award Social Science and Technology Award Catalog No. 0285) was established. The Energy Innovation Award consists of four sub-awards: Academic Innovation Award, Management Innovation Award, Technical Innovation Award and Outstanding Young Energy scientific and Technological Workers Award, which are selected once a year.

Energy group standards development:

In order to promote the development of group standards in China's energy field, better serve scientific and technological innovation in the energy field, fill the gaps in the industry, and meet the needs of the market and innovation, efforts are made to strengthen organizational construction, establish and improve the expert database of energy standardization, train personnel and staff, optimize and improve the application, approval and release process of standards, and actively carry out the formulation of energy group standards. Up to now, 91 group standard formulation projects have been reviewed and approved, 17 group standards have been approved and released, and it is one of the second batch of national group standard pilot units.
